<image:title>Blog - When Elmo from Sesame Street helps explain the benefits of a “Trauma-Dump” - Image by Jason Moyer-Unsplash</image:title>
<image:caption>When Elmo—yes that Elmo from Sesame Street—recently asked everyone how they were doing on X, many folks took the opportunity to vent their emotional response to the state of the world. It was bittersweet to read what folks posted. Responses to his (can we refer to an imaginary muppet as a person-based pronoun?) post, delved into the psyche of society-at-large these days. “Trauma-dumping” was the best way to describe what Elmo got back from his innocent, off-the-cuff inquiry. So, what is trauma dumping, and are there positive effects? Trauma-dumping is a colloquial way to describe how we might communicate our inner turmoil, suffering, and pain. We dump and ventilate our feelings for catharsis—an attempt to relieve pain. There are many positive effects of such a dump. In the case of Elmo’s tweet, the responses formed a community, where celebrity and the hoi polloi, alike, spoke of their sadness, pain, loneliness, and anxieties. We live in a isolated, individualistic age, and finding common themes in others’ emotions can help us feel less alone, normalize any present-sadness, and pain.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - In this AI age, you may be wondering what the benefit of working with a therapist is. There is no better substitute for working in person or online with a human being, with lived experience, who you feel gets you. Sure, AI can give good advice, but life is complicated. Relationships are complex. Therapy is an invitation to connect with all parts of yourself. The things that make you, you. Therapy, in its best form is a place to explore, reality test, have real, honest communication, and heal through time-tested, evidence based interventions that address mental health issues like anxiety, including panic, OCD, depression, and past history of trauma.</image:title>

<image:title>Home - Mindfulness in therapy invites all of you: mind, body, and spirit.</image:title>
<image:caption>Used in therapy, mindfulness is therapeutic and healing because it is necessary in today’s often-mindless world. Mindfulness allows for healing from past hurt and traumas freeing you to live life in conscious awareness, and purposefully with resilience. Mindfulness-based therapy builds that resilience through skills and practices that you may experience as a release of tension in your body, and deep, full breaths. For your mind, it can feel like a brain bath and clarity and focus. For your soul, the truth of who you are is contained in the deep acceptance for the experience of who you are and who you are becoming. Mindfulness allows for healing from past hurt and traumas freeing you to live life in conscious awareness, and purposefully with resilience.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - What is Existential therapy, and how does it help? Explore meaning in life, even meaning from suffering.</image:title>
<image:caption>Therapy is most productive when your “now” makes sense in the context of the larger story of who you are, where you have been, what makes you unique, what you hold dear, such as your values, and your desires. Unlike a temporary therapeutic bandaid, we seek deeper, long-lasting healing when we can speak aloud your truth and compare it with the bigger Truths as we know them in faith and spiritual practices and experience. Sessions are the praxis of clinical awareness and application of the truths and values you hold dear. Existential therapy is about living fully into your authenticity, being generous with who you are, living in freedom because you understand the purpose and value of your life. Sessions are culturally-responsive, focused on identifying purpose, and tackling life’s anxieties.</image:caption>

<image:title>About Therapy Pricing - How private pay therapy works: In private pay, the fee for session is expected after the session is over. You will likely pay through a private, HIPAA compliant vendor. Your therapist will provide you with a super-bill, which is an important piece of documentation that your third-party insurance company will need to reimburse you directly for the cost of therapy sessions. The pros of using a private pay therapist is in accessibility, ease of scheduling, years of experience, and expertise. Payments are due at the time of service through an online, secure, and confidential portal. Documentation for reimbursement for treatment is provided upon request. You will receive super-bills in a timely and convenient manner, which you can submit to your third-party insurance payer. Rates of reimbursement are listed on your health-insurance site, please refer to the information on your behavioral health plan benefits via their site. If you prefer to use your insurance benefits, they will have a list of providers that are considered in-network.</image:title>

<image:title>Therapy for Anxiety - Anxiety therapy that is effective in the long-term is holistic in nature. Panic, feelings of dread, and anxiety may feel like your body and mind are betraying you. You need all of you and all parts to be re-aligned and re-attuned to the parts of life that bring you peace. Somatic awareness, cognitive and behavioral solutions, as well as existential reflections, will all help you develop new mental and emotional maps to decrease the anxious and panic that you have become accustomed to. When your nervous system is dysregulated, the goal is to first teach your body to learn how to calm itself down. Your body is an amazing resource in this regard. In our work together, we will pair tailored therapy reflections, exercises, and narratives about your anxiety, with somatic interventions. You will feel the results, and as you journey on, leave anxiety behind.</image:title>
