Burnout isn’t failure, it might actually be an invitation
Burnout doesn’t just exhaust your body. You’re trying to care, but feel numb…
Burnout drains your joy, your creativity, your faith, and your capacity to show up with presence. On a study I recently did with pastors and Christian mindfulness, I measured both burnout and their mindfulness state to assess the effectiveness of a 6-week Christian mindfulness intervention. What I learned was interesting. Purpose and calling seemed to be an important factor as to why these pastors scored low on burnout. Though their mindfulness state improved, it seemed that even if pastors were stretched thin and busy, they weren’t as burned out as I thought.
How does this help you, though? Well, it is easy to experience burnout because harm and deterioration is easier to accomplish than restoration.
God doesn’t ignore your burnout.
He sees the holes burnout has left behind.
“I will restore to you the years the locusts have eaten.”
